Why can't I connect two monitors to my MacBook?

Why can I only connect one monitor to my MAC? I know this question was asked, but never answered. It’s been 4 years since the first complaint. Apple, what have you done so working professionals can efficiently do their jobs?

You are not addressing Apple here. They do not respond to questions posted. We are other end users like you and not privy to Apple decision-making. In fact, you would do well to read Sect B.1.ii of the Terms of Use your agreed to follow when you joined here.

The last MacBook was discontinued in 2019, The specs clearly state that model, MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, 2017),

can only support the built-in display and one external.

MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, 2017) - Technical Specifications - Apple Support

We cannot offer more because you have not told us which of the several MacBooks going back to about 2006 you have. Also, many people call any Mac laptop a "MacBook" even when they actually have a Macbook Pro, Powerbook, or Macbook Air. If you have one of those, this becomes a different discussion. Please advise.

All of the 12” Retina MacBooks have a single USB-C port, which supports DisplayPort Alt Mode, but not Thunderbolt. None have other video ports such as HDMI.

Macs do not support DisplayPort MST daisy-chaining or its equivalent, so that would limit those MacBooks to one external display, even before considering the Intel integrated GPU’s capabilities. No Thunderbolt means no possibility of connecting two displays in a first-class, supported way over a single port.
